UV GLASS

PREVENT YOUR ARTWORK FROM FADING

The same light that lets us enjoy our art also works to destroy it. Not only is ultraviolet light dangerous for our skin, it's the same type of light that causes colors to fade and paper to yellow. In Colorado, we have high levels of UV light even out of direct sunlight. High levels of UV light are present in any bright room with windows and under fluorescent and halogen lighting. The damaging effects are cumulative and irreversible.

Luckily, there is an easy way to block 99% of UV light before it gets to your artwork. There are two types of glass available at Masten that protect your artwork from damaging light:
  • Conservation glass and comes in two forms, regular and non-glare. The cost is minimal in relation to its benefits and it can replace regular glass in any picture frame.
  • Museum Glass is the gold standard. This amazing glass not only blocks UV light, but is manufactured in a way that makes it crystal clear with virtually no reflection. Colors appear truer and details are sharp and crisp. You have to see it to believe it!
