The beginning
1986From graphic artist to framer.
Before Masten existed, Reed Masten worked as a graphic artist for a government agency in the Denver area. With a degree in Fine Art and a long standing instinct to make and sell things, picture framing became a natural place for art, craft, and entrepreneurship to meet.
In July 1986, he opened Masten Fine Framing & Gifts in Denver’s historic Uptown neighborhood. The early work focused on hand gilded custom frames for fine artists and galleries. Over time, that specialty grew into full service custom framing for original art, photographs, prints, posters, memorabilia, textiles, and objects.
